What’s Hot. What’s Not.

This season emerges with monumental shifts in fashion’s domain. Descending hemlines and unrevealing tailoring will come as a shock to the system after months of daring to bare obscene amounts of leg, all in the name of fashion, of course. You can breathe a sigh of relief as you sport the forgiving midi length and revel in the wonder of discovering your waist again after it’s been obscured underneath voluminous smock fabric for so long.

In light of these shifts in fashion, here’s a look at what trends can be seamlessly transferred to this season and those that should definitely be left behind.

What’s Hot

Patent
The new metallic. Everything comes with sheen this season, from patent leather jackets to shiny ankle boots. The perfect way to update last season’s look is with an oversized patent tote.

Coats
They come in clean-cut cocoon shapes with a cape style influence. Lengths should be kept thigh skimming for a bit of everyday glamour. Inevitably, trenches will continue to reign as a classic, staple addition to your wardrobe.
Midi length
Hemlines slip below the knee this season requiring heels to make the look work. This style is very easy to wear and is perfect for both day and night.

Jodhpurs
Out go leggings. In come jodhpurs. It may sound incomprehensible that you’ll be strutting around in equestrian themed garments but they really are top of the fashion pack’s list. From Balenciaga to Gap, they’ll be flying off the shelves in no time.

Lady-like
Oh yes, the waist is back. We can finally show off curves instead of fuelling those “is she or isn’t she pregnant” debates that stem from wearing sizable smocks. This is all about high-waisted pencil skirts cinched with slim belts and finished with feminine blouses. Heels go without saying.

What’s Not

Smocks
The baggy silhouette has been banished.

Leggings
We wore them under just about anything over summer but they have finally come to the end of their shelf life.

Minis
Gone are the bottom-skimming dresses that gave you nightmares all summer. It’s time to relax into a much more chic midi length.
